Dileep George
Dileep George heads AI research at Astera, which announced his arrival in February 2026. He trained in electrical engineering at IIT Bombay and Stanford. During his doctorate he co-founded Numenta with Jeff Hawkins and Donna Dubinsky, then later helped build Vicarious as its chief technology officer. His research includes a model that recognized distorted text and studies linking learned representations with brain circuits. In 2022, Vicarious’s business moved toward Intrinsic while George’s smaller research group moved to DeepMind. His 2023 work on schema learning examined a possible mechanism for learning patterns within context. His career connects company building with research on perception, memory, and structured reasoning.
